Vandana graduated with a Masters in Mass Communication from  Jamia’s MCRC (Mass Communication Research Centre) in New Delhi, India. She started her career as a camerawoman for the British Council film,’ My Sister My Self’, made for the Health Ministers summit in Geneva. In 2004 Ms. Sood won the prestigious Commonwealth Vision Award for her short on Education, from The Royal Commonwealth Society.

As a media Consultant at the India Centre Foundation, an Indo Japanese Non Profit focused on inter cultural communication, Vandana made several films to highlight the cultural legacy between the two nations and traveled to the Cannes Film Festival in 2005.

Ms Sood facilitated and taught filmmaking to under privileged children in New Delhi as part of Plan International’s program, ‘Children have something to say.’ In the summer of 2006 Ms. Sood was part of The ‘World of Knowledge’, a UNDP program in Poland, delivering workshops on global issues. Vandana was the recipient of the ‘2008 Davis Project for Peace’ for her project, ‘Stretching Towards Peace’ which focused on yoga and meditation as a counter to youth violence and aggression in conflict areas like Serbia.
Vandana has been teaching media as an adjunct teacher at Hunter College and freelanced with The Music Theatre Group on their cross cultural chamber opera, ‘Arjuna’s Dilemma.’  Ms Sood worked with PBS’s Emmy award winning program, ‘In the Mix’ where she shot edited and co produced a piece about yoga being taught at public schools in New York City. Vandana interned at beliefnet.org with the aim of further integrating her skills in media with her passion for spirituality and communication.

Vandana resides in New York City and ‘The Taxi Takes’ was her thesis project as part of her MFA at Hunter College’s renowned Integrated Media Arts Program.

    Yes I got the opportunity to go there when I was working with Team India and India Center Foundation as their Media Consultant. It was amazing.

    Thank you for your comment on my blog and I’m intrigued by your project. Did a lot of work for the World March for Peace and Nonviolence. Do you know it? I also have spent a lot of time working in media in NYC, so we share a number of areas of interest: notably, finding solutions to the world’s preoccupation with using violence as a force for change. Would be interested to sit down and talk to you about your work. Would that be of interest?
